![]() Power Flushing Many central heating systems suffer with problems that can be attributed to corrosion and a build up of Iron Oxide / Magnetite (black sludge) this can eventually become solid. The problems experienced include cold spots on radiators, radiators that need bleeding frequently, noise form pipes, the pump or the boiler and in some cases complete blockages. This is quite common with micro-bore systems
Most boiler manufacturers now require flushing of the system prior to commissioning of a new boiler this will usually also form part of your manufacturers warranty.

![]() What is Power Flushing?
Power Flushing is a means of cleaning the complete heating system internally without the need to remove the radiators etc. It involves connecting a powerful pumping machine independently of the system and adding aggressive chemicals to breakdown the sludge and cleanse the system. This is then driven around the system at high speed and usually in both directions. Each radiator is flushed individually. The contaminants are then filtered and flushed out of the system with clean water. The system then has new inhibitor added to provide ongoing protection.
The End Result?
A central heating system which as far as possible is as good as new.
With all new boiler installations we Power Flush the existing radiators and pipe work before each installation AS STANDARD. We do also offer Power Flushing separately for existing systems.
Please Note
Many people offer power flushing or "flushing" and many do a good job but we have had customers who have paid good money and not received what they paid for. When a flush is carried out cleaning agents must be added, each radiator must be isolated where possible and flushed individually. The contaminants must be filtered and flushed out of the system, measurements of the TDS (total dissolved solids) should be taken before and after the flush and compared to your mains tap water and finally the system should have inhibitor added. The complete process will not take a couple of hours it will take typically the best part of a day and on some systems longer.
